ფარმაკოლოგიური თვისებები
თიმოლოლ მალეატი – თიმოლოლ-პოს თვალის წვეთების აქტიური კომ¬პო¬ნენტი – წარმოადგენს ბეტა-ადრენორეცეპტორების არასელექტურ ბლო¬კა¬ტორი სიმპატომიმეტური აქტივობის გარეშე. ადგილობრივი გამოყენებისას ამცირებს თვალშიდა წნევას თვალის ნამის პრო¬დუქ¬ციის შემცირებისა და მისი უკუდენის მცირე მომატების გამო. ეფექტი ვლინდება ჩაწვეთებიდან 20 წუთის შემდეგ, აღწევს მაქსიმუმს 1-2 საათის შემდეგ და გრძელდება 24 საათი.

ფარმაკოკინეტიკა
თიმოლოლი მალეატი რქოვანას გავლით სწრაფად აღწევს თვალის ქსოვილებში. კონიუნქტივიდან,
ცხვირის ლორწოვანიდან და საცრემლე აპარატიდან უმნიშვნელო რაოდენობით შეიწოვება სისტემურ სისხლისმიმოქცევაში. მეტაბოლიტები გამოიყოფა თირკმლებით. აქტიური ნივთიერების 
კონცენტრაცია ახალშობილებსა და პატარა ბავშვებში ბევრად ჭარბობს მაქსიმალურ კონცენტრაციას მოზრდილებში.

• პირველადი ღიაკუთხოვანი გლაუკომის დროს;
• მეორადი გლაუკომა (უვეალური, აფაკიური, ტრავმის შემდგომი);
• თანდაყოლილი გლაუკომა (სხვა თერაპიული ღონისძიებების არაეფექტურობისას);

მიღების წესები და დოზები
ახალშობილებსა და 10 წლამდე ბავშვებში აწვეთებენ 0.25% ხსნარის 1წვეთს 2-ჯერ დღეში.
მოზრდილებში და 10 წლის ზემოთ ასაკის ბავშვებში კონიუქტივალურ პარკში აწვეთებენ 0.25% ხსნარის 1 წვეთს 2-ჯერ დღეში. არასაკმარისი ეფექტის შემთხვევაში კი 0.5% ხსნარის 1 წვეთს 2-ჯერ დღეში. აუცილებლობის შემთხვევაში დოზა შეიძლება შემცირებულ იქნას 1-2 წვეთამდე 1-ჯერ დღეში.

გვერდითი მოვლენები
ადგილობრივი რეაქციები:
თვალის გაღიზიანება, კონიუქტივიტის, ბლეფარიტის, კერატიტის სახით. ქუთუთოების ჰიპერემია, თვალის წვა და ქავილი, კონიუნქტივის ჰიპერემია, ცრემლდენა ან ცრემლის გამოყოფის შემცირება,
სინათლის შიში, რქოვანის შეშუპება, მხედველობის სიმახვილის ხანმოკლე ცვლილება. ხანგრძლივი გამოყენებისას შეიძლება განვითარდეს წერტილოვანი კერატოპათიები (რქოვანას გამჭვირვალობის ცვლილება) და რქოვანის მგრძნობელობის შემცირება, ფტოზი, დიპლოპია.
სისტემური რეაქციები
გულ-სისხლძარღვთა სისტემის მხრიდან: ჰიპოტენზია, ბრადიკარდია, ბრადიარითმია, ატრიოვენტრიკულარული ბლოკადა, გულის უკმარისობა, გულის გაჩერება, მიოკარდის კუმშვადობის შემცირება, ტკივილი მკერდში, თავის ტვინის სისხლის მიმოქცევის გარდამავალი მოშლა, კოლაფსი.
სასუნთქი სისტემის მხრიდან: ქოშინი, ბრონქოსპაზმი, ფილტვის უკმარისობა. 
ცენტრალური ნერვული სისტემის მხრიდან: თავბრუსხვევა, თავის ტკივილი, ძილიანობა, ჰალუცინაციები, ფსიქომოტორული რეაქციების შენელება.
სხვა გვერდით ეფექტები: ალერგიული რეაქციები (ურტიკარია), რინიტი, ცხვირის დახშობა, სისხლდენა ცხვირიდან, გულისრევა, ღებინება, დიარეა, პარესტეზია, ნაწლავთა სისუსტე, სასქესო
ფუნქციის დარღვევა, დეპრესია.

უკუჩვენება
• ფილტვების მძიმე ქრონიკული ობსტრუქციული დაავადებები მათ შორის ბრონქული ასთმა;
• სინუსური ბრადიკარდია;
• II და III ხარისხის ატრიო-ვენტრიკულური ბლოკადა;
• გულის II-III ხარისხის მწვავე და ქრონიკული უკმარისობა;

გამოიყენება სიფრთხილით
სინო-ატრიული ბლოკადა, არტერიული ჰიპოტონია, ბავშვთა, განსაკუთრებით ახალშობილობის ასაკი, ცერებრო-ვასკულური უკმარისობა, შაქრიანი დიაბეტი, ჰიპოგლიკემია, თირეოტოქსიკოზი, მიასთენია, სხვა ბეტა-ადრენობლოკატორების დანიშვნა.

ორსულობა და ლაქტაცია
ორსულებში პრეპარატი შეიძლება გამოიყენებულ იქნეს თუ მოსალოდნელი სარგებელი აღემატება ნაყოფზე ზემოქმედების შესაძლო რისკს. პრეპარატის გამოყენებისას ბავშვის ძუძუთი წოვება უნდა შეწყდეს.

განსაკუთრებული მითითებები
ეფექტურობის კონტროლი უნდა ჩატარდეს მკურნალობის დაწყებიდან 3-4 კვირაში. მკურნალობის პერიოდში 6 თვეში ერთხელ შესწავლილი უნდა იქნას ცრემლის გამოყოფის ფუნქცია, რქოვანა მთლიანობა, მხედველობის ველი. აუცილებელია სიფრთხილე ავტოტრანსპორტის მართვისას ან სხვა პოტენციურად სარისკო საქმიანობის დროს, რომლებიც საჭიროებენ კონცენტრაციასა და ფსიქომოტორული ფუნქციების სისწრაფეს და მახვილ მზერას. (ჩაწვეთებიდან 0.5 სთ მანძილზე).
ჩაწვეთების წინ კონტაქტური ლინზები უნდა მოიხსნას და ჩადგმულ უნდა იქნას ჩაწვეთებიდან არა უადრეს 15 წუთში. თვალის წვეთებში ბენზალკონიუმ ქლორიდის (კონსერვანტის) არსებობისას რბილი ლინზების ხმარება არ არია მიზანშეწონილი. თიმოლოლის ხანგრძლივი ხმარებისას შეიძლება ეფექტი შესუსტდეს.
მიორელაქსანტებით გამოყენებით ზოგადი ანესთეზიის ქვეშ მოსალოდნელი ოპერაციის ჩატარებამდე 48 საათით ადრე პრეპარატი უნდა მოიხსნას.

ჭარბი დოზირება
მითითებული დოზით ადგილობრივი ხმარებისას დოზის გადაჭარბება არ აღინიშნება. შემთხვევით
დალევისას შეიძლება აღინიშნებოდეს შემდეგი: გულისრევა, ღებინება, თავბრუსხვევა, თავის ტკივილი, არტერიული წნევის დაქვეითება, ბრონქოსპაზმი, ბრადიკარდია. დოზის გადამეტების სიმპტომების მკურნალობა სიმპტომატურია: ბრადიკარდიისა ან ბრონქოსპაზმის მოსახსნელად ვენაში შეჰყავთ იზოპრენალინი, ხოლო არტერიული ჰიპოტონიისათვის დობუტამინი.

სხვა წამლებთან ურთიერთქმედება
ეპინეფრინი, პილოკარპინი, სისტემური ადრენობლოკატორები აძლიერებენ მოქმედებას. რეზერპინთან გამოყენებისას შესაძლოა გამოხატული ბრადიკარდიისა და ჰიპოტონიის განვითარება.
(ეს კომბინაცია საჭიროებს ექიმის განსაკუთრებულ კონტროლს). კალციუმის არხების ბლოკატორებთან და საგულე გლიკოზიდებთან - შესაძლოა ატრიოვენტრიკულური გამტარებლობის დარღვევა, მწვავე მარცხენა გულის უკმარისობა ან არტერიული ჰიპოტონია. აძლიერებს მიორელაქსანტების მოქმედებას, ამიტომ აუცილებელია პრეპარატის აკრძალვა 48 სთ ადრე მოსალოდნელი მიორელაქსანტებით ზოგადი ანესთეზიის ჩატარებამდე. არ შეიძლება დაინიშნოს ნეიროფსიქოტურ (ნეიროლეპტიკებთან) და ანქსიოლიტიკებთან (ტრანკვილიზატორებთან) ერთად. მკურნალობის დროს არ არის რეკომენდებული ეთანოლის მიღება ( შეიძლება არტეიული წნევის მკვეთრი დაწევა). სიფრთხილეა საჭირო ჰიპოტენზიური საშუალებების, სხვა ადრენობლოკატორების, ინსულინის ან ორალური ანტიდიაბეტური, გლიკოკორტიკოიდებისა, ფსიქოაქტიური საშუალებების ერთდროულად გამოყენებისას.
